‘Absolute greed’: LoL players can’t get their heads around overpriced Sahn-Uzal Mordekaiser skin

League's Exhalted skins aren't hitting the mark for fans.

League of Legends players are baffled by the latest Sahn-Uzal Mordekaiser skin, with many calling it a subpar addition to the game that fails to capture the essence of the Iron Revenant—especially given its high price point.

League players have called out Riot Games for Mordekaiser’s new skin, arguing that it lacks the quality and uniqueness compared to existing high-tier skins in the game. With the developer labeling Exalted skins as “luxury goods,” many believe this skin falls short of justifying its high cost through gacha.

“It doesn’t even have new animations what the actual fuck, it’s worse than a 1820 [RP] skin,” a player said on Reddit, pointing out that the skin uses the same animations and base model as the default champion, making it worse than ultimate and even legendary skins in League.

The Exalted skins are only available for players who play the Sanctum gacha game. They have to pay at least $200 to even have a shot at getting the skin with a 0.5 percent chance. This makes getting your hands on the Sahn-Uzal Mordekaiser skin incredibly expensive.

“This skin should have been Ultimate Tier. Absolute greed to put it in gacha system. Shame on whoever decided this,” a player added, noting how it could been a cheaper skin in general, but with the gacha system, the prices are inflated.

Riot introduced the Sahn-Uzal Mordekaiser skin through the in-game client, tracing Mordekaiser’s journey as a warlord before fully transforming into the iron-clad revenant we know today. In the comic, Sahn-Uzal’s mortal reign ended when he was betrayed and slain, but he manipulated death to return as a spectral overlord. He forged his dominion over the Shadow Isles and beyond—which is how it ties to his Runeterra lore.

His appearance in the comic matches his in-game look well, but the League community is not impressed as the champion doesn’t have unique animations. It makes Mordekaiser seem lackluster compared to his other skins, such as PROJECT Mordekaiser.

Apart from complaining about the skin, the community compared it to a Hextech chest. “Exalted Morde is basically THAT skin you get from a Hextech chest that makes you wish you got a ward instead,” a player said, referring to the poor quality of the skin.

While Riot is rigid on its plans to give players “hyper-exclusive skins” through Exalted skins, the reception seems to get progressively worse each time.
