It’s not just the same chaotic League game mode you remember. Riot Games has updated it, starting with a new final boss, Veigar, replacing Teemo’s march down the mid lane. Drawing on lessons from Swarm, the developer has used its tougher AI bots and designed boss fights to push players to their limits.

League’s Doom Bots game mode releases on public servers with Patch 25.17, which goes live on Aug. 27, 2025.

Just like before, it is a PvE mode where you and four teammates battle against Veigar and his army of overpowered bots. You have to survive for 15 minutes, then face off against Veigar himself while protecting your Nexus. If you and your team outperform the enemy bots during this time, you can get an edge in the final battle.

While there are a few returning faces, the new Doom Bots include Wukong, who can summon up to seven spinning clones, and Nami, whose bubble now splits into three and whose abilities hit more allies now, making it a challenge to dodge her. The final boss fight has Veigar, now equipped with Mordekaiser’s Death Realm, to pull you into duels with his bots mid-fight.

The mode introduces Trials of Doom for players asking for more difficulty, with rotating high-difficulty challenges each patch. You will earn a special title if you complete all three trials. The developer explained that the first trial increases the difficulty and gives all Doom Bots Veigar’s passive, allowing them to gain Adaptive Force with each successful spell hit, growing stronger alongside you as the match progresses.

You’ll also face mid-game missions from Veigar that can reward your team with powerful buffs like Dragon Souls. However, if you fail the challenge, Veigar unapologetically makes his Doom Bots deadlier, which makes it hard for you to cope with them. The classic Curses return with a twist where they can still hinder you, but clever players might turn them to their advantage.

Combined with the new bosses, missions, and other upgrades, the new game mode promises to be a mix of nostalgia and fresh chaos for the players looking to have fun after running it down on Summoner’s Rift.
