LoL analysts predict one champion will dominate Worlds 2024 meta

"You think I am the one to fear?"

With the 2024 League of Legends World Championship on the horizon, teams, fans, and analysts alike are already making their guesses around the possible meta that will take shape at the tournament.

Popular League content creator and former pro player Marc Robert “Caedrel” Lamont spoke about the possible champion pool that could take over picks and bans at the event, including the domination of Yone in the mid lane, the possible rise of AD jungle picks, and AP mid laners.

The 28-year-old former jungler pondered the state of the meta heading into the biggest League event of the year, while also mulling over the latest tier list from fellow streamer and coach Nick “LS” De Cesare. Yone was a “safe” pick as the number one priority champion at the event, since he currently boasts the most games played in Masters+ ranks with a destructive 55 percent win rate, according to LoLalytics.

In the list, LS marked down Yone and Ziggs as top-tier picks for blind pick, much to the confusion of fans. This does, however, make sense since LS made the list with Team Liquid’s mid laner APA, who is a notorious Ziggs main. Caedrel also built his own estimated guesses on the upcoming meta, remarking that fans could see a rise in AD junglers like Skarner, Viego, Jarvan IV, and Vi.

These junglers could see an increase in usage due to the recent changes in Patch 14.18, where multiple AD champions were adjusted for pro play. With the rise of AD junglers, however, Caedrel can see more AP-based mid laners coming into the meta accordingly, including Twisted Fate, Sylas, Ahri, and Taliyah.

If certain champions are picked during the tournament, it could also lead to more playing time for other specific champions, such as Syndra being picked in response to Ryze, or Lissandra being picked in response to Ahri. In the current solo queue meta, many of the aforementioned champions have seen increases in their win rate in Masters and above. Sylas, Syndra, Taliyah, and Twisted Fate all have a 55 percent win rate or higher, making them a priority target for players in draft.
