Forget the ‘best in the West,’ MKOI Supa has other priorities at MSI 2025

Clashing with the titans.

Western esports teams in League of Legends have historically struggled to secure international titles, but Movistar KOI’s ADC wants to change that.

“All I’ll say is that there’s a problem the moment people are debating who’s the best in the West when we’re actually trying to win MSI. We are not the same. I’m thinking about how we can become the best team in the world,” Supa said in an interview with Sheep Esports, adding that players need to think about becoming the best in the world to compete with the Chinese and Korean powerhouses.

Europe’s first seed at international League tournaments is usually G2 Esports, but MKOI have broken the dynasty this year. The team started with two consecutive losses in the LEC Spring Split, but they learnt from their mistakes and adapted to win their first-ever domestic title in the EMEA league.

Supa has been a pivotal player in the MKOI lineup, dominating the bot lane with his support, Alvaro. He had the highest first blood rate among all AD carries in the 2025 LEC Spring Split, according to stats site Oracle’s Elixir. He also had the highest number of kills among AD carries in the playoffs to lead MKOI to their maiden title.

As G2 Esports barely made it out of the MSI 2025 Play-in stage, European fans would look toward MKOI to have a strong showing at the tournament. MKOI face their first series in the upper bracket against Bilibili Gaming on July 4. Bilibili Gaming gave a crushing 3-0 blow to G2 Esports in the Play-ins, so MKOI will have to make a statement to beat them.
