For Fnatic, revenge is a dish best served cold. The perennial European champions exacted their retribution against Origen by taking them down in the second week of the 2019 LEC Summer Split.

Origen shut down Fnatic’s dreams last season when they beat them in the third round of the 2019 LEC Spring playoffs. It looked like the boys in orange were slated for a matchup against G2 Esports, but Origen had other plans. This time around, Fnatic took a calculated and decisive approach that ultimately gave them the win.

Fnatic had Tim “Nemesis” LipovÅ¡ek’s Sylas and Gabriël “Bwipo” Rau’s Shen switch lanes in order to match a bit better against the opposite laners of Origen, who had Kennen in the top lane and Aatrox in the mid lane. As a result, Fnatic got an early lead with some great roams from Zdravets “Hylissang” Iliev Galabov and Mads “Broxah” Brock-Pedersen.

Although Fnatic did make some mistakes in the mid-game—including an overextension that gave Origen three kills—they found some great teamfights to secure the win. Hylissang and Nemesis were critical to the team’s success—Rakan was a huge catalyst for many key picks throughout the game and Sylas became incredibly strong as the game went by.

Fnatic are now 3-0 in the 2019 LEC Summer Split and look strong through the first two weeks of the season. Their macro play is really clean and they’re decisive with all of their calls, while Origen looked hesitant during multiple moments in the game. Origen will look to bounce back against the struggling Misfits on June 15.
