CLG unveiled its new line of LCS jerseys today, and the internet showed no mercy

Huh, white and blue. Haven't seen that in the LCS before.
This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information

The LCS kicks off soon with a rematch between Cloud9 and Team Liquid, and that means it’s about time for trash talk between the league’s 10 teams to begin. That’s especially true when certain teams make it so, so easy. Take CLG, for example, who unveiled a new line of jerseys for the 2019 season.

Now clad in white and light blue, the starting and Academy CLG lineups look… familiar. In fact, they almost look like another LCS team which may or may not also be clad in white and light blue. We’re sure you see by now where we’re going with this. The internet, naturally, caught on very, very quickly.

“Nice Cloud9 jerseys! Thanks Jack Etienne and Cloud9 for hooking them up!”

“C9G”

“They look like washed out C9 jerseys.”

“Washed or faded, the perfect description of CLG.”

“And the crowd goes mild.”

These were just a few of our favorite one-liners provided so generously by LCS fans on both Reddit and Twitter. If you’d like to peruse all of them, which you can spend upwards of an hour doing, you can read one of the Reddit threads on the matter or even the replies to CLG’s announcement tweet. Either way, if you’re looking for some quick laughs, you can’t go wrong.

Honestly, there isn’t much of a point in evaluating the jersey itself. It looks like CLG were big fans of C9’s color scheme, and wanted a change of scenery, so they slightly changed the shade of blue so it wouldn’t look like copied homework. Anyone familiar with C9’s look would probably come to the same conclusion after glancing at these new jerseys for a few seconds. There are some fans who aren’t even mad about it looking like C9 and just don’t like the new jerseys at all, pleading for CLG to go back to black and blue.

Don’t get us wrong, there are still a few CLG fans out there that enjoy the new look, calling them cool or an “instant buy.” That’s great, really, but it’s definitely hard to not see the resemblance. Maybe CLG looked at the Overwatch League, where half the teams have the same colors, and then thought this would go over well. CLG and C9 have been around a lot longer than any OWL team, though, and there are only 10 teams in the LCS. So it’s not really the same situation.

Regardless of if CLG goes back on the new look or stands firm and leaves the new jerseys in, at least we’ve been provided with some good pre-season smack talk.
