Today is the 9-year anniversary of LoL’s 17 original champions

Happy birthday!

After numerous updates to maps, champions, and features in League of Legends, it’s sometimes hard to forget that the game is pretty darn old. In fact, today (Feb. 21) marks the nine-year anniversary of the game’s original 17 champions.

Alistar, Annie, Ashe, Fiddlesticks, Jax, Kayle, Master Yi, Morgana, Nunu, Ryze, Sion, Sivir, Soraka, Teemo, Tristana, Twisted Fate, and Warwick have been duking it out on the Rift for almost an entire decade, and today is theirs to celebrate.

Join us as we take a step back through time and revisit these champions in 2009—before their many reworks, redesigns, and updates. Happy birthday, you old geezers.
