No More Room in Hell 2 lands an official early access date of Oct. 22, developers Torn Banner Studios have confirmed. The co-op survival horror game serves as a sequel to the 2011 game No More Room in Hell, a Half-Life 2 mod that was re-released as a standalone title in 2013.
Torn Banner Studios has announced that No More Room in Hell 2 will launch in early access on Oct. 22 for $29.99 USD. The highly anticipated shooter already has more than 750,000 wishlists across Steam and the Epic Games Store after being promoted at Summer Games Fest a few months ago.
In No More Room in Hell 2, players assume control of emergency responders during a zombie apocalypse who must scavenge for resources and fight back against the hordes to complete various missions in an ever-changing environment.
Every mission provides players with the chance to loot supplies and level up their responder, as every run also rewards surviving responders with access to better gear. However, the game operates with a permadeath mechanic, so there are no respawns and no do-overs. If characters die, they die for real, and any responder who dies loses all their progress.
Early access will pit up to eight players against the forces of the undead on the first battleground, the Power Plant—a massive map based on rural Pennsylvania. Players can utilize car alarms, traps, and explosives to lure enemies and take out large groups at once in environments reminiscent of classic horror movie scenes, such as gas stations and military checkpoints.
Despite No More Room in Hell 2 releasing its first official trailer back in 2021 with an initial release date slated for Halloween 2022, development was delayed to allow Torn Banner Studios to perfect the product after fully acquiring the original development team, Lever Games. As a result, No More Room in Hell 2 took another two years of polishing before finally being featured at Summer Games Fest in June 2024.
No More Room in Hell 2—like hit releases such as Fortnite and Layers of Fear—has been confirmed to be using Unreal Engine 5, the latest version of software from Epic Games. Horror fans can rejoice knowing No More Room in Hell 2 releases on early access just in time for Halloween, as was the original plan all along.
