The Kiln demands a worthy sacrifice for the 24 Karat Badge in PEAK, making it one of the game’s toughest achievements. You must track down a hidden, powerful object and destroy it, which is no easy feat. If you need a guide to pinpoint its location and secure the achievement, we’ve got you covered.

How to get the 24 Karat Badge by offering the Kiln a worthy sacrifice in PEAK

Before making your way to the Klin, you’ll need to get your hands on the Ancient Idol, which you can find hidden in the MESA desert. Once you cross the Tropics and make your way to the desert, here comes the tricky part. A particular rock in front of you has a secret passage underneath it and’ll take you to the tomb. As of writing today, there is no way to push the rock to use the passage, and you’ll have to wait until it randomly disappears in one of your runs to give you a clear passage to the tomb. 

Many players use the Fly mod or glitches to reach the secret passages, but we recommend waiting for the passage to appear naturally, as it is far more rewarding to discover it that way.

For me, it happened at night, so waiting at the Tropics checkpoint is a good strategy—it gives you time for night to fall and helps you avoid the region’s harsh sunlight, which can burn you to a crisp without sunscreen. Once you find the passage, descend slowly using Balloons or some other method to avoid taking fall damage, then navigate a fairly simple maze to reach the secret chamber containing the Golden Ancient Idol.

You can pick it up and then leave the tomb to the desert and keep it safe in your backpack. The item weighs a lot, and it’ll be easier to carry if you have Balloons in your bag. Once you’re back in the desert, you can carry the Ancient Idol, and it’ll protect you against all kinds of damage. Continue your run after crossing the MESA region to reach Caldera. Once you reach the Caldera checkpoint, you should spot a straight way into the Kiln.

Take that road and go straight, holding the Golden Ancient Idol, and walk to the end of the road into the volcano until you see the magma below you. Use Q to throw the Idol into the lava, and the achievement should be completed.
