Team YL and eStar Gaming became the first two teams to book their places in the event after winning the Chinese regional championship yesterday.

The teams beat out six others who had qualified through the Gold Series Heroes League (GHL), including league winners Snake eSports KR.

After YL lost to eStar in the winner’s final, the team had to turn beat third-place Brave Heart to make it to the overall final and secure second place with a 2-1 victory. EStar took a comfortable 4-1 victory in the best-of-seven final, with an initial 1-0 advantage due to coming from the winner’s bracket.

Qualification comes as no surprise for eStar—with eight major tournament wins and over $150,000 in prize money under their belt, they’re the most successful Chinese Heroes of the Storm team to date and one of the most successful teams worldwide. For winning the regional championship, they take home about $32,240, with Team YL winning $24,180.

The two Chinese teams will be joined by two representatives each from Europe and the Americas, as well as the regional champions from Korea and Taiwan.
