Regardless of your preferred method, leveling Vitality is a tedious process. But here’s the best way to level your Vitality fast in Escape from Tarkov.

Vitality tracks how much damage you take in Escape from Tarkov. So long as you’re not killed in action, Vitality is automatically leveled up every time you take damage from explosives and bullets. It is not limited to PvE or PvP either. You can take damage from friendly fire or inflict damage on yourself.

There are multiple ways to level up your Vitality. Here is a quick rundown on what you can do to increase your resilience in Escape from Tarkov:

MethodDescriptionHealth items neededVitality points
Move in barbed wireUse the railway of the Shoreline and walk through barbed wire to take small, consecutive damage. Make sure you have healing items on you. Go to this area of the map at night to avoid other players. You can repeat this process as many times as you’d like (as long as you have enough health items).Propital regenerative stimulant injector

Get shot in the legHave your friend(s) shoot you in the leg to inflict bleed.Propital regenerative stimulant injector

Take gunshot damage in an isolated PvE fightUse melee attacks while the AI shoots you. Wait for heavy bleed and heal to stop the bleeding.Propital regenerative stimulant injector

Run on broken legsTake fall damage to break your legs, heal with Propital regenerative stimulant injector, and run for as long as you can to gain Vitality. You can repeat this process.Propital regenerative stimulant injector

Bleed offers higher Vitality points but is caused by bullets. You can use a Propital regenerative stimulant injector to boost Vitality while dealing with any critical injuries you may have. Propital removes pain, letting you continue an action that harms your player without taking too much damage that you die from the wounds. Depending on the wound you have, you must heal after every action. You cannot gain Vitality while bleeding out.

We highly recommend taking barbed wire damage as you can quickly gain 0.2 points every time you walk through it. You can take minimal damage and repeat this process until you reach a Vitality upgrade. The high-risk, high-reward method of inflicting yourself with a gunshot wound uses more items in a shorter frame of time and puts you at greater risk.

Vitality is one of the seven physical skills in Escape from Tarkov. It’s quite an interesting skill to track and level up in this extraction shooter. Vitality demands that you take damage during Raids and Quests. This sounds like something you want to avoid at all costs, but by taking damage, you gain resilience to bleed, making you stronger on the battlefield. You will survive longer if you continuously take damage before the next wipe, as the chance of critical damage reduces based on your Vitality level.

By leveling up your Vitality, you reduce the chances of bleed and increase health regeneration. Here are all upgrades with a higher Vitality:

  • Bleeding chance reduction: 60 percent at ELITE Level.
  • Death from limb loss reduction: 20 percent at ELITE Level.
  • ELITE Level upgrade: Health regeneration increase and bleeding can stop on its own, without needing healing items.
