How to get Falx in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree

A good weapon for melee builds.

There are several new weapons introduced in Shadow of the Erdtree. While most of these weapons can be found as simple drops from enemies, others can be harder to find. One of the more missable weapons in the game is the Falx. This is how you can acquire it.

Where to find the Falx in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree

The Falx is a new Curved Greatsword introduced in Shadow of the Erdtree. Finding this weapon can be quite a complicated process if you don’t know where to begin. There are a few instances where you can acquire the Falx, and all of them involve playing through the Hornsent‘s questline in Elden Ring. This process takes you through a few areas, so it might take a while.

When you first meet Leda at the Three-Path Cross Site of Grace, she will redirect you to the Hornsent, who will give you a map of crosses to follow. From this point, play through the storyline until you get through Castle Ensis and defeat Rellana. Once you do, you can proceed towards Scadu Altus, where you will meet the Hornsent once more, at the Highroad Cross Site of Grace.

Talking to him here will yield another map of crosses for you to follow. This path will eventually take you to the Shadow Keep, one of the main legacy dungeons. When you reach the starting point, you will get the message “Somewhere, a great rune has broken…” flash on your screen. Once this happens, your first chance to acquire the Falx opens up.

Method one

Head to the Main Gate Plaza Site of Grace in the Shadow Keep and make your way to the main walkway above. If you have unlocked the right staircase shortcut, this process is much faster. After you ascend to the top of the stairs, you should notice two summon signs: one red, and one gold. Touch the red sign to invade the Hornsent with Leda and engage him in battle.

Defeating the Hornsent in battle here will drop his Falx and entire armor set. However, doing so will also lock you out of the Hornsent’s questline. If you wish to see this questline till the end, try the other method after touching the gold sign instead.

Method two

This method will see you progress through the Shadow Keep and defeat Messmer, the Impaler with the help of the Hornsent as a summon. After defeating Messmer, progress through the storyline until you reach the Church of the Bud. This is where the Hornsent will invade you, making for a slightly more difficult one-on-one battle.

Defeating him here will end the Hornsent’s storyline for good and grant you his Falx weapon along with his armor set.
