Heroic adds RUBINO to starting line-up

The Norwegian player has already stepped in for the team in online matches for a week.

Less than a month after being removed from Team Dignitas, Ruben “RUBINO” Villarroel has found a new team.

The 23-year-old Norwegian will be joining Danish side Heroic, replacing rifler Patrick “es3tag” Hansen. Es3tag joined the team on Jul. 7, 2017 from Tricked Esports.

Aside from competing alongside Astralis as a stand-in at the ESL Pro League Season 6 and the fourth Esports Championship Series playoffs, RUBINO spent the majority of 2017 in obscurity. Team Dignitas was plagued by poor performances and constant roster changes, and the mix roster he competed on has now completely disbanded.

Similarly, Heroic was unable to make any significant progress with its Counter-Strike: Global Offensive roster in 2017. This included not being able to qualify for either event in the Valve Major circuit, despite the team housing some of Denmark’s strongest up-and-coming CS:GO talent.

With this in mind, there is no denying RUBINO’s experience on the server in contrast to his predecessor. In 2016, RUBINO was considered to be one of the strongest clutch players in the game, winning EPICENTER 2016 with Dignitas. RUBINO was also part of the North lineup that reached the top eight at the ELEAGUE Major in January 2017.

The team’s new roster will be playing its debut match in the seventh season of the ESL Pro League against Space Soldiers today at 10 AM CT.
