Team Roster – G2 vs The MongolZ

TheMongolZ’s benching of Azbayar “Senzu” Munkhbold was the biggest change of the last season, shocking the entire community. Senzu, an HLTV Top 20 player, had been the star behind MongolZ’s success, found himself removed from the roster, with no replacement decided. To temporarily fill out the roster, controlez was called up from Mongolia’s third best team, Chinggis Warriors’ bench. And so far he’s been spectacular.

Match Recap – G2 vs The MongolZ

Ancient – The MongolZ run over G2 – 13-4

Stand-in controlez has been stellar in his stint with The Mongolz so far, and the start of Ancient was no different. Alongside Techno4k, the riflers was leading the team’s T side as they locked an early 5-0 lead. Despite SunPayus looking on point, there was little G2 could do as MongolZ’s deathball simply rolled over any defence, guaranteeing a halftime win with seven. G2 finally broke through thanks to MATYS taking two down while running blind out of cave.

And instantly, MaaRaa called a timeout to remind The MongolZ of their protocols. And that put them on the right track, instantly extending their lead even further. G2 finally found back to back rounds towards the end of the half, allowing them to get three on the board. But with a 9-3 lead, The MongolZ looked set to blitz through Ancient.

And a pistol win really added to that advantage, taking the Mongolian side to match point before G2 could even get rifles on the board. In the first gun round, G2 had their backs up against the wall, but they played The MongolZ like a fiddle. Malbs entried onto B with SunPayus alongside him, while hunter led the rest of the squad into A to plant the bomb and secure strong postplant positions. The MongolZ still closed the map out 13-4.

Dust2 – controlez can do no wrong! – 13-6

Dust2 began brightly for G2, with HeavyGod bursting into the A site to claim the opener. But once rifles came out, The MongolZ took command, storming to six rounds early. G2 clawed back a fourth, yet another perfect entry from HeavyGod soon reignited the pressure on bLitz and company.

910’s AWP thundered through the B tunnels, dropping two before G2 even reached the site and handing MongolZ a slim lead at halftime. The controlez-Techno4k duo then dominated the pistol round, giving their team an early grip on the second half. MongolZ powered into double digits soon after, tightening the vice on G2.

When hunter turned a 3v1 into what seemed a secured defensive round, bLitz struck back with three pinpoint headshots to steal it away, forcing sAw to call a timeout. 910’s death on xbox sparked a mid collapse for MongolZ, but their multi-pronged push through tunnels, mid, and short overwhelmed G2’s defense and delivered match point. From there, bLitz sealed the map with one of his trademark clutches, closing out the victory in style.

The MongolZ now head into the Major playoffs with a point to prove. Senzu may have looked like the defining player on this roster across the last two years, but the team is proving they can be successful without him. Can controlez help fill the star void as the tournament heads to the arena?
