Filip “NEO” Kubski has joined FaZe Clan, the organization announced today. The veteran will be the team’s new in-game leader.

NEO will replace Dauren “AdreN” Kystaubayev, who’s represented FaZe as a stand-in since January and helped the team win BLAST Pro Series Miami in April.

FaZe have been using their star player Nikola “NiKo” Kovač as an in-game leader since September after benching their former captain, Finn “karrigan” Andersen, in December. Although the team won EPICENTER 2018 in October and BLAST Pro Series Miami recently, FaZe have been struggling to deliver good results on a regular basis.

This will be NEO’s first contract since he was released by Virtus Pro in February. He represented the Russian organization for almost five years and has won big tournaments like the EMS One Katowice Major in March 2014 and ELEAGUE season one in July 2016. His last trophy while representing Virtus Pro came at DreamHack Masters Las Vegas in February 2017.

The legendary player had a brief stint with Heroic in March when he played as a substitute at the ECS season seven Challenger Cup. NEO is often regarded as the “GOAT” of Counter-Strike since he was one of the best players in the world at Counter-Strike 1.6 and also achieved a lot of accomplishments in CS:GO.

His first game with FaZe will coincidentally be against Virtus Pro at ECS season seven, week four today at 10am CT.
