Two fan favorites were sent home as a result of today’s matches in day four of the ELEAGUE CS:GO Premier—Cloud9 and FaZe Clan.

The first match of the day involved a rivalry matchup between Cloud9 and MIBR, featuring former C9 players Jake “Stewie2k” Yip and Tarik Celik knocking their previous team out of the tournament. It was a slightly similar storyline for Fnatic’s Richard “xizt” Landstrom in his second offline match vs. FaZe Clan, who previously fielded him as a stand-in for Olof “olofmeister” Kjajber.

MIBR earned a swift 1-0 series lead over C9 after taking Inferno 16-5 easily, while also shutting down the North American firepower and forcing all of its stars to go negative. The Brazilian-majority team continued their momentum in map two, Cache, with an opening 10-5 T side score. But C9 fought back with a 10-5 score of their own to force overtime. Regardless of C9’s efforts and Will “RUSH” Wierzba’s 30-kill bomb on Cache, MIBR closed out the series with a closing 19-17 scoreline.

The following elimination match between FaZe and Fnatic was a lot more contested, with tight rounds throughout. Fnatic struggled early on during Dust II to really string together rounds. But eventually they started clicking later in both halves, forcing overtime due to a strong and explosive T side. Fnatic swept FaZe in overtime 19-15, and Xizt attained a game-winning 4K to close out the first map against his former teammates.

Map two, Mirage, was another bloodbath. Fnatic took the lead early on by breaking FaZe’s eco. That helped them gain a 9-6 lead, which was later rendered useless by FaZe’s second half success. With Nikola “NiKo” Kovac topping the server at a massive 38 kills, coupled with a one-vs-two clutch, FaZe hoped to stay alive in the tournament. In the end, NiKo’s efforts were in vain since FaZe dropped the second map in round 30 to give Fnatic the 16-14 win.

MIBR and Fnatic’s victories on day four of the ELEAGUE Premier put them in the decider matches for their respective groups. MIBR will face off against Team Liquid at 1pm CT and Fnatic vs. Mousesports will follow at 4pm CT. The winners of those matches will advance to the next stage of the $1 million event, where they’ll join Astralis and Natus Vincere in the playoffs this weekend.
