Modern Warfare 3’s year in the Call of Duty spotlight is winding down, but there are still a couple of updates left before all eyes turn to Black Ops 6.
MW3’s Season Five Reloaded update is coming soon and will likely be heavily overshadowed by the Black Ops 6 beta beginning the following week. But there’s still a good amount of fun to be had in MW3 while the wait continues.
Here’s what we know about when MW3’s latest midseason update will come out and what’s included in it.
MW3 Season 5 Reloaded release date
MW3’s Season Five Reloaded update is scheduled to begin on Aug. 21 at 11am CT. It’s expected to add new content across all modes (multiplayer, Zombies, and Warzone) midway through season five ahead of a likely season six, which will presumably continue into Black Ops 6’s launch period.
What’s in MW3 Season 5 Reloaded?
There’s some interesting stuff coming in this Reloaded update for MW3, including some new, very unique weapons to level up and mess around with.
Two new weapons
The Torque 35 bow and Spear melee weapon will be unlockable through the currently Classified battle pass sector via several new challenges when the midseason update goes live, offering some fun new ways to slay enemies online.
Final MWZ story mission
The conclusion to MW3’s Zombies story arrives in Season Five Reloaded, wrapping a bow on the plot that began with the game’s launch and really didn’t offer much since as Treyarch shifted focus to BO6.
“Operation Deadbolt must face the ultimate challenge in confronting the Entity in a terrifying new section of the Dark Aether,” Activision said. “Use Aetherium launch pads to soar through the environment and keep away from the dangerous hordes of undead lurking on the ground. Prepare to abandon all hope as you make your way towards the climatic conclusion and the final boss.”
New map
Well… it’s kind of new. Not really. Another map recolor is coming with the update, a cel-shaded variant of Stash House called Ink House. Unfortunately for CoD gamers, no other maps are coming with the update.
New multiplayer modes
Three new limited-time modes will come with the update: Fishfection, Paintball, and Defuse or Destroy. Fishfection is Infection with just a bow and spear, Paintball includes increased movement abilities and one-shot kills, and Defuse or Destroy is SnD but with a bomb already planted each round.
New Warzone content
Midseason additions to Warzone include the return of the Supreme Resurgence mode, new Elite Contracts, a new public event called Recon Flyover, and mode-specific weapon balancing.
