The return of round-based Call of Duty Zombies is on the horizon, and Treyarch is finally teasing the fervent fan base with a website hinting toward Black Ops 6 Zombies.
This isn’t the first time Treyarch has used a website to tease the long-awaited installment in the Black Ops universe, with the developers using a website to create an alternate reality game for players to discover clues about the storyline of the next game in the popular franchise earlier this year.
This time, however, the website has shifted to hint at the Zombies mode, with a website titled “The Truth Dies.” When you first open the website, a television screen pops up in the middle of the page showing a typical TV guide with six different channels. For a moment, calm music plays in the background. But afterward, the screen begins to shift into a shot of a twisted bunny plushie—which Zombies fans will likely recognize from the Mystery Box.
Shots of a prison security system can be seen afterward, with people in the cells. Eerie music can be heard as the different scenes are flashed before it returns to the channel guide with the calm music. If you switch over to the second channel, the television shows a quick weather report with a shot of what seems to be a hurricane before the screen flickers again and shows the same bunny plushie.
Eventually, a faraway shot of a building on an island is shown, which seems to look an awful lot like Alcatraz, the well-known prison site found off the coast of San Francisco. The first channel also shows the inside of a prison, which could be hinting at one of the locations players will find themselves in. The community seems to think, though, that this location might be called Terminus, one of the two new round-based Zombies maps coming at the launch of Black Ops 6.
If this website follows in the same footsteps as its predecessor, players should find more channels available as the days continue. For now, however, there are only two channels available to view, along with a little surprise for viewers if they choose to turn off the television. (Spoiler alert: It’s a jump scare, so hopefully you aren’t spooked too easily.)
Black Ops 6 is set to be released on Oct. 25.
