These are the teams competing at the 2018 CWL Last Chance Qualifier

There are 32 teams from four different regions competing in this event.

In one week, 32 of the best teams outside of the CWL Pro League will have their final opportunity to qualify for the biggest event of the year.

The likes of Ghost Gaming, Vodafone Giants, and Taboo will converge on the MLG Arena in Columbus, Ohio on Tuesday, July 24 to compete in the CWL Last Chance Qualifier. Although not offering any cash prize, the event will instead grant the top 16 teams something very valuable: spots in the $1.5 million Call of Duty World League Championship next month.

Of the 32 teams, nine of them automatically qualified for the event by winning their respective online national circuit’s fourth stage. The remaining 23 were invited based off their pro points total in their region, with North America receiving the most spots out of the three major regions.

The teams will play in a double-elimination bracket. With just two wins and no losses, teams can punch their tickets to the world title tournament—but that’s easier said than done with the talent involved.

North America

Lightning Pandas and InControl Gaming come into the LCQ with a lot of momentum. Both teams won their respective national circuits—Lightning Pandas in Canada and InControl in the United States—and have looked formidable in online play.

Europe

In anticipation for the LCQ, many of the teams in Europe made changes to their rosters. Team Vitality may be the most notable, but it remains to be seen whether they will perform up to expectations after making a late roster change, adding former Brash player Bjarne “Denz” Sleebus yesterday.

Asia-Pacific

Synergy Esports Club and Taboo, representing the Asia-Pacific region, are hoping to make it a total of four Australian teams in the CWL Championship, joining Mindfreak and Tainted Minds.

South America

As the only team at the event from the entire continent of South America, Virtue Gaming will have their work cut out for them.

While they may be able to surprise a team or two with an unorthodox playstyle like European and Australian teams have done in the past, the Brazilian National Circuit champions do not have a lot of great competition to practice against, which may prove to hurt them in the LCQ.

The Last Chance Qualifier will be the opening act of sorts for the CWL Pro League playoffs, which will begin on Friday, July 27. Both the LCQ and playoffs will likely be broadcast on the official Call of Duty Twitch channel, with the qualifier beginning on Tuesday, July 24.
