The Rocket League World Championship began on Sept. 10 with a 16-team Swiss format, setting the stage for the playoffs from Sept. 14 to 15. Swiss matches were all best-of-five, with only the top eight advancing to the Rocket League World Championship Series (RLCS) playoffs. The prize pool for Worlds was twice the size of the Esports World Cup, with first place taking home $300,000 of the total $1,165,500 prize pool.

The teams opened the World Championship with a 16-team Swiss stage. Each match is a best-of-five: Three series wins guaranteed a spot in the playoffs, while three losses meant elimination.

Teams that qualified with a 3-0 record booked a direct spot to the playoff upper bracket, while 3-2 qualifiers began in the lower bracket. The 3-1 squads then played through a final double-elimination bracket to determine who would join the upper-bracket teams and who would only have one life left in the finals. Once everyone’s locked for the playoffs, the format switches to best-of-seven and double-elimination to the grand final match.
