Is Hell Let Loose crossplay or cross-platform?

Well, it depends. Here's a Hell Let Loose cross-platform guide to clear it up.

Hell Let Loose revolves around communication and teamwork, and playing it with friends on different platforms can be a fun and unique experience. This requires a crossplay function, and while the game does have one, there are a few exceptions to how it works and who you’ll be able to play with.

Hell Let Loose divides 100 players in either the American or German side of World War II to participate in real-life historical events in places such as Carentan, Omaha Beach, Stalingrad, and Kursk. You can choose from an extensive list of military roles and equip historical weapons to further immerse yourself.

With the game now a part of the Xbox Game Pass library, many new players can access it and join other players via crossplay to reenact or change World War II history. Unfortunately, the process does have a few limitations.

Does Hell Let Loose support crossplay and cross-platform?

Yes, Hell Let Loose supports crossplay and cross-platform in 2024—but not completely. Crossplay is only enabled for those playing on a console (Xbox and PlayStation), while PC players can only play with other PC players.

That’s unfortunate if you’re a PC player with friends on Xbox or PlayStation. However, if you own the game on Steam and have friends who are Xbox Game Pass subscribers, you can play together using crossplay. With Game Pass PC priced at $11.99 per month, it’s still very accessible and affordable. It also comes with several prominent titles like Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Doom Eternal, Diablo 4, and Forza Horizon 5, as well as the Assassin’s Creed and Halo games.

Here’s everything you need to know about Hell Let Loose crossplay in 2024:

PlatformsCrossplay availability
Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X/S Yes
PC and Playstation 5/ Xbox Series X/ Xbox Series SNo
PC (Steam) and PC (Xbox Game Pass PC)Yes

By opening the option menu, you can turn on or off crossplay to limit who you play with. The “Crossplay Enabled” option will be available for all platforms but will only make a difference on Xbox and PlayStation consoles.

Does Hell Let Loose have cross-platform progression?

Hell Let Loose does not have cross-platform progression. If you own the game on PC and are moving to Xbox, for example, you won’t be able to use the same save and continue from where you started or vice-versa. As mentioned before, the developer is keeping console and PC players separate, so there is no way of using the same save on different platforms because they are hosted on different servers.

Benefits of Hell Let Loose crossplay

Aside from the fact that Hell Let Loose crossplay allows you to play with your friends and other players on different consoles, one of the biggest advantages of crossplay in any setting is its potential to reduce wait times while looking for a match.

Having access to an entirely new player base means new possibilities for matchmaking for both PlayStation and Xbox X/S players. You’ll need to remember this if you’re considering turning off crossplay for your version of the game.

In addition, this can help you find more populated servers and result in a more immersive experience—one that is intended by the game in the first place.

Will Hell Let Loose have crossplay or cross-platform support in the future?

No, there seem to be no plans for Hell Let Loose to get crossplay or cross-platform support. Developer Black Matter said it “will be keeping PC and console separate,” so don’t expect full crossplay between console and PC to be implemented in the near future. However, the game’s community is always discussing this subject on their various forums, which may result in some point in PC and console crossplay being greenlit.

Why is there no Hell Let Loose PC-to-console crossplay?

Hell Let Loose is a slow-paced game compared to other FPS titles like recent Call of Duty games and Battlefield 2042. However, it’s still a first-person shooter, which might be the primary reason behind the developers not adding a crossplay feature between PC and console versions of the game. Playing with controllers against players with mouse and keyboard setups can be quite frustrating for the average console player.

On the contrary, both CoD and Battlefield 2042, which can be incredibly fast-paced and chaotic, have successfully implemented the crossplay and even cross-progression features, so Hell Let Loose players may eventually get to experience it after all.

However, there could be other reasons as well. While consoles are mostly free from it, cheaters are, sadly, quite prevalent in most first-person shooters. Hell Let Loose might not be infested with cheaters, but it does happen, which can be a problem for a whole new player base if console players are added to the mix. While the game has Easy Anti-Cheat, cheaters may often take time to get banned.
