VALORANT Masters Toronto winner played the whole tournament with an injury

Jinggg, Paper Rex’s star player and winner of VALORANT Masters Toronto, played the entire tournament with an injured wrist.

On June 25, Jinggg confirmed this on Discord: “I’m finally in Singapore and have maybe 5-7 days break before practicing again and flying off to Riyadh for EWC. I just slept the whole flight and have to wake up in the morning tomorrow to check my wrist because it has been injured since I landed in Toronto, but we still somehow won.”

“I will probably stream tomorrow in the afternoon or evening depending on how long I take to check my wrist and if I need to do any scans or anything,” the Singaporean added.

Jinggg’s performance was top-notch despite an injured wrist throughout VCT Masters Toronto. He bagged 69 kills in total while maintaining a 207 average combat score and a 23 percent headshot percentage at the tournament.

The Esports World Cup starts July 8, and VALORANT is one of the first games to be played on the grand stage in Riyadh, meaning Jinggg doesn’t have long to rest.

Wrist injuries have been notorious in esports on several occasions. Popular Counter-Strike players such as GuardiaN and Olofmeister had their fair share of wrist injuries in the past, and things haven’t been the same for them since.

Ex-VALORANT and Overwatch player Patiphan has also suffered wrist injuries in the past, leading to him stepping down from Los Angeles Gladiators.

After Jinggg revealed he had been carrying an injury while competing, fans expressed worry for his career.

On Reddit, one fan said, “Hopefully it’s not too serious, careers like Patiphan or like a lot of Smash Melee players were cut short cuz of wrist injuries/carpal tunnel, would be a shame to see his career cut short.” Another fan added, “My goat still being the greatest raze of all time, even with a wrist injury, I really hope it’s not serious though I wanna see them go on a champs run!”

PRX’s current roster includes six players, with mindfreak as a substitute. The team may decide to rest Jinggg and play the Indonesian player instead for the tournament that awaits next month.
