Rematch player proposes brilliant solution to punish goal campers

Goal campers ruin the fun in Rematch

Rematch has concluded all of its beta runs, and before we head into the full release of the game, the community has some suggestions that could improve the quality of in-game life. One of the main problems that many players, including myself, have been facing is that of a player who camps in front of the goal, looking for an easy tap-in finish, and refuses to help the team in any other way.

While the presence of a striker is vital for any football team, unless you’re playing with a false nine, this five-vs-five requires not only teamwork but also active communication to register a win. In a scenario like this, it can be very frustrating to play with one less player, not because of a red card, but simply because of goal camping.

However, the community has been quick to recognise this problem, and some have even come up with possible solutions once Rematch releases globally.

After spending a substantial amount of time on the official Rematch Reddit forum, I can confidently say that this is a community divided into multiple factions. While some love the game simply based on its mechanics and gameplay, there are also Rocket League fans who find the game very similar, if not better. Additionally, there is also a group of football fans who want nothing more than a virtual futsal arena where they can compete against their friends and other teams.

This division within the community has led to several disagreements and arguments over how the game should be played. However, the one thing that all of us can agree on, despite our differences in choice behind loving Rematch, is how frustrating it is to be teamed up with a goal camper.

One such Reddit user, u/Watashy, has come up with a possible solution to this problem. The user suggests that, instead of having an offside rule that could disrupt the game’s smooth flow, players who stay too far away from the action for extended periods should be given time-outs and temporarily made inactive.

A similar mechanic is already available in the Rush mode of FC 25, where players receive a blue card for reckless tackles and challenges. The blue card sends the respective player into a time-out for 60 seconds, during which period the player remains off the pitch. A similar system could be implemented in Rematch, allowing players to risk goal camping in exchange for a time-out.
