Doublelift’s contract with Team Liquid will last until the end of the spring split, Team Liquid’s CEO Steve Arhancet revealed in the announcement.

Shortly after the reveal, Team SoloMid made a statement explaining that Doublelift still intends to try out for TSM after the spring split. The statement continues to state that if Doublelift’s tryout goes well, TSM will be fielding a six-man roster with Jason “WildTurtle” Tran and Doublelift both at the AD carry position.

After the 2016 League of Legends World championship, Doublelift made the decision to take a break from competitive play, choosing not to play in the spring split in order to pursue streaming. Despite being away from the scene, Doublelift assured fans that he would return to competitive play.

This news comes a week after Chae “Piglet” Gwang-jin’s roleswap to the mid lane for Team Liquid. The squad used Jung “Youngbin” Young-bin at the AD carry position in their 1-1 week, but more drastic changes were necessary to save Liquid from the relegation tournament. Team Liquid is currently in last place in the league.

Doublelift will make his return to the NA LCS this Friday, when Team Liquid takes on Cloud9.
