Last year, you had to double-tap either B on Xbox or Circle on PlayStation to flop. Things work a lot differently in NBA 2K25, though. You don’t need to tap anything. What you need to do is spend virtual currency. Yes, flopping is now gated behind a paywall, if it is a very nominative one. But that’s not all. There are now several steps to flopping in NBA 2K25 that require their own mini-tutorial.

How to get the flop animation in NBA 2K25

Before you can actually perform a flop, you must buy the animation for it. To do this, go to MyPLAYER, then enter the Animations menu. Navigate to the Animations Store and select In-Game Celebrations. The Flop animation is third from the top in the NBA and Pro-Am Standing celebrations selection. It will cost you 100 VC to purchase it.

From the Gameplay Animation menu, go all the way to the right where the In-Game Celebrations section is located. Scroll down to the NBA and Pro-Am Standing options and select it. Find the Flop animation and equip it.

How to perform a flop in NBA 2K25

You’ve purchased the flop, you’ve equipped the flop, now you can perform the flop. While standing still in-game, press down on your controller. Congratulations, you’ve done it; you flopped! It’s not the most useful move on the court, but it will surely catch everybody’s attention.

If you want to know more about much less meaningful on-court moves, like the best dribble moves in NBA 2K25, for example, feel free to do so. Remember, if you get the ball stolen from you, you can always flop and say you got fouled. It won’t fool anybody, but it might make you feel better.
