MagicFest and MCQ qualifiers are events where amateurs and professional Magic: The Gathering players have the opportunity to earn a qualifying ticket to a tabletop Mythic Championship. The next one, following the London tournament, is set to take place in Barcelona, Spain.

Eleven MagicFest MCQ tournaments are left before Mythic Championship IV, with Madison next on the list. The tournament will feature Limited War of the Spark Sealed and Modern Constructed. The MCQ Limited Sealed is on Friday and Sunday, with Modern Constructed taking place on Saturday.

MTG War of the Spark is tougher than previous Limited formats due to a large number of planeswalkers (36) and powerful God-Eternals in the expansion. As fans witnessed with Limited draft during the Mythic Championship II in London, anything is possible. Madison’s MCQ, however, is in a Sealed format as opposed to a draft.

Limited Sealed is where players receive six War of the Spark booster packs. From those cards, they construct a minimum 40-card deck to compete within the tournament. Because of the number of bombs in each booster pack, players will need to think outside the box if they want to gain an advantage over opponents when putting together their decks.

Saturday’s Modern Constructed MCQ should also be interesting without the use of the London mulligan rule. During MTG Mythic Championship II, certain decks ruled the metagame due to the London mulligan. Without it in effect, it should be interesting to see what decks players choose to go with at the MagicFest MCQ Madison tournament.

The next MTG Mythic Championship will take place on MTG Arena, followed by Mythic Championship IV from July 26 to 28 in Barcelona.
