These beasts are absolute game-breakers.

One of the most brutal positions to play in any sport, halfbacks (running backs) can truly change how an offense looks in the National Football League.

In Madden NFL 25, there are plenty of dominant HBs to choose from. While only one is part of the 99 Club, there’s a slew of backs that can transform an offense and take it from middling to the top of the league.

Whether you like a pass-catching back, a Trucksticking force who bowls over defensive backs, or a speedster who turns on the jets once they get past the line of scrimmage, the league is blessed with all kinds of talent in 2024.

Here’s the list of the best halfbacks in Madden 25 at launch.

Madden 25’s cover boy, San Francisco 49ers HB Christian McCaffrey, leads the pack with his 99 Club entry, three whole OVR points ahead of the second-best RB in the league, Nick Chubb of the Cleveland Browns.

McCaffrey’s ability to move through the open field, find holes in the line, and catch passes out of the backfield as well as any HB we’ve ever seen means he’s well-deserving of the 99 rating as the game’s best when it comes to carrying the ball. CMC’s Ballcarrier abilities are tremendous, with 96 Carrying, 90 Break Tackle, 93 Change of Direction, and 94 Juke Move. His lone weakness is Trucking, which is below average at 65—but anyone that’s watched him will know that’s not his game, and it’s not what you should be trying to do with him in Madden.

Nick Chubb, meanwhile, has become a powerhouse in the league. His Ballcarrier abilities may be better overall than CMC, including 99 Break Tackle, 93 Trucking, and 96 Stiff Arm. Bring multiple defenders if you want to tackle this man.

Keep the top 10 in mind when you begin fielding your MUT squad or deciding which team to play as online, because these backs could spell the difference between victory and rage.
