How to do a one-hand catch in Madden 25? Spectacular Catch, explained

On the highlight reel.

Although there are many ways to end up on NFL highlight reels across the world, there is nothing as exhilarating as a one-handed catch. In Madden 25, players can pull off catches like this with the new Spectacular Catch system, but it will take some patience and physical prowess to complete.

The Spectacular Catch system is one of the best additions to the latest in the popular franchise, allowing prospective stars to etch their name in the history books by pulling off some incredible plays in the backfield. With this new mechanic, you can grab a ton of yards against tough coverage, even against some of the toughest cornerbacks in the league.

If you’re trying to make a play with a one-hand catch, here is how to use the Spectacular Catch mechanic in Madden 25.

How to do a one-handed Spectacular Catch in Madden 25

To pull off a one-handed Spectacular Catch in Madden 25, take control of a player who has been targeted for a throw, and press L1 on PlayStation or LB on Xbox Series X|S while pressing the regular catch button. Instead of a safer, two-handed catch that secures the ball, the player will go for a one-handed catch that you’ll be showing off to your friends throughout the week.

With the Spectacular Catch mechanic, the receiver is given an extended catch radius that allows him to snatch a pass that is slightly out of their normal range. There is, however, a higher chance of a dropped pass, along with a higher chance for a break-up from an incoming defender.

As a result, you should only go for a Spectacular Catch if the pass is slightly off the mark—or if you’re looking to stunt on your opponent. If you absolutely need to catch a ball for a first down, however, it would be a lot smarter for you to use a regular catch to ensure you don’t drop the possession and the game.
