This time around, however, the news was good for League of Legends fans.

Eefje “Sjokz” Depoortere will join Riot Games full time and move to Berlin to continue serving as host and sideline reporter for the biggest esports league on the planet.

Her former colleagues at the Electronic Sports League and on the LCS broadcast, Joe Miller and Leigh “Deman” Smith, decided to continue their careers as commentators in Cologne with ESL. Depoortere took a different path.

“I see this as a great opportunity but it was by no means an easy decision,” she wrote on Facebook. “Over the past two years ESL and Cologne have become more of a home than I could have ever imagined. I’m incredibly thankful for the opportunities ESL gave me and how they helped shape who I am today.”

Depoortere joins Riot Games full-time after building a reputation as the face of the broadcast, an ever-present presense in post-game interviews with players at the LCS, the All-Star Invitational, and the Riot World Championships.

While she’s moving from ESL to Riot Games, that doesn’t exclude her from working ESL events like the Intel Extreme Masters—Depoortere will appear at IEM San Jose next weekend. For her fans in League of Legends, it seems that little will change.
