Riot Games has previewed the new custom global emotes for all League of Legends teams competing in tier-one leagues. Riot teased these cosmetics before the 2024 Mid-Season Invitational, and now, they’re finally set to arrive soon.
All new LoL pro team emotes coming August 2024
League players were first introduced to custom emotes last year with the 2023 Season Kickoff emotes. Riot wanted to kick it up a notch in 2024, with every team competing in a tier-one league this year getting their own emote.
League’s new global emotes will be available on Aug. 27 “in Riot regions” and Aug. 28 in China, according to Riot. 30 percent of the gross revenue earned will go directly to the team that designed the emote. These emotes will be available for 350 RP.
Teams took this opportunity to get creative and honor their fan bases with memorable emotes. Dignitas throwing at Baron Nashor has been an ongoing meme for many years, and now, the org’s fans get to celebrate that hilarious meme with an emote of a Baron throwing the Dignitas logo.
Not all the emotes are clearly connected to a team at time of writing, creating a fun guessing game for fans on Twitter/X. North American squad Cloud9’s emote was one of those initially, but since then, the org confirmed its emote is Clown Jinx, paying homage to the “Clown9” meme.
The LEC was kind enough to let its audience know which emotes belong to which teams. BDS’ logo will attract much attention, but not necessarily for the right reasons. The org brought back the infamous bait ping, to an extent, which Riot removed after players excessively used it in a toxic manner.
