Fizz is getting some nasty buffs in Patch 8.15

His new W in Patch 8.14 just wasn't cutting it.

League of Legends’ Fizz received a brand new active ability on his W in last week’s patch, and according to a tweet from Riot staffer Naomi McArthur, the new W ability fell too short. To make up for its lackluster launch, Riot is planning some enormous buffs for the little trickster.

For the most part, the buffs just include big, fat AP scaling buffs, but there are some tweaks to base damage, too. Overall, this is clearly going to make Fizz much stronger. There’s a good chance he’ll be a priority pick in solo queue after this goes live.

Chum the Waters, his ultimate, is getting the largest buff of the clump. On top of considerably more flat damage on the Guppy, Chomper, and Gigalodon, AP scalings are going up across the board. The Guppy is getting a 40 percent increase, Chomper is getting 30 percent, and Gigalodon is getting 20 percent, resulting in all part of the ultimate scaling with 100 percent or more of Fizz’s AP.

Seastone Trident, the W that was reworked last patch, is getting a slightly less drastic buff. Its active’s base damage is going a bit down, but its AP scaling is going up by 20 percent, resulting in an overall buff. The on-hit magic damage portion is retaining the same amount of base damage, but it’s also getting an AP scaling buff of 10 percent.

After this buff, if Fizz lands an ult on you, you’re toast even if he only has one or two full items. At first glance, it seems a little over the top, but we’ll see how it feels in practice once it’s fully loaded onto the PBE.
