Rocket League Championship Series prize pool upped to $300,000
Following a two month hiatus, Rocket League Championship Series is back for its third season—and with it, developer Psyonix is increasing the stakes.
Championship winners Flipsid3 Tactics took down Mockit Aces in season two to take home their share of the $250,000 prize pool during the Amsterdam grand final. This year, Rocket League teams will be vying for $300,000. North American and European teams interested in taking on the reigning champions—who will, presumably, be participating—will be able to register for the open qualifiers on Feb. 9.
Open qualifiers will knock teams down to the best eight from each region—that's 16 total—that'll move on to League play. Oceanic Rocket League teams, a new region to the League, will see a slightly different schedule, with details on that being released "fairly soon," Psyonix said.
North America's Rocket League open qualifier finale will be held Mar. 11 at 3pm EST, while the European open qualifier finale will start on Mar. 12 at 12pm EDT. Both will be broadcast on Twitch.
New to the Rocket League Championship League this year is a weekly talk show airing first in mid-March. More details on that broadcast will be released "in the coming weeks." Season one of the Rocket League Championship League began in 2016, with season two beginning shortly after its conclusion.
