GeoGuessr is a geography guessing game that you can play in your browser. It first came out in 2013 and exploded in popularity during the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, millions of players have been active on it.

The browser-based game involves the player looking at a photo from Google Street View and trying to guess what location it came from through clues. It’s relatively simple and features a few different modes, like multiplayer duels and Battle Royale.

The Fortnite version is extremely similar, though with a few differences: Instead of Google Street View, it’s in-game Fortnite locations. Fortnite‘s version uses maps across seasons and chapters at random. You’ll need to figure out the location through scenery clues.

Step 1: Go to the website

The first part is simple: Head over to Lostgamer.io to play. Unlike the real-life version of Geoguessr, Lostgamer doesn’t require players to create any accounts to play, and it’s completely free. Players can just click on the game mode they want to play and start.

Step 2: Choosing a game

Once you’re at the website, you’ll need to click Singleplayer or Multiplayer. Afterward, click the game you want to play. The website has a few, like Genshin Impact and GTA V. Click on Fortnite, then continue.

Step 3: Choosing a map

There are a few selections to choose from in terms of game mode, however. Lostgamer allows players to play the standard version of the game, which includes maps from every Chapter and season, but it also allows players to select individual Chapters. Players can even select maps from specific, individual seasons to play on.

Step 4: Learning the rules of the game

Once a player selects which map or maps they want to play on, Lostgamer functions very much like Geoguessr. The game puts players in one spot and lets them rotate their camera 360 degrees. The mini-map is displayed in the bottom right-hand corner, and players can score points by guessing where on the map they have been placed, selecting the spot on the mini-map. The closer the player is to the actual place on the map, the higher the score. If a player guesses too far away, however, they can score zero points.

Each round also gives players the option of how many rounds they want to play and how difficult they’d like to make the game by turning off camera rotation, the zoom function or adding time limits to the game. Once all the rounds are finished, the game totals your score from all the rounds played.
Players can play the match solo or against friends.

If you’ve got some downtime or just want to test out how well you know Fortnite, this game is a great place to start.

Tips for Fortnite GeoGuessr

Fortnite‘s GeoGuessr mode can seem pretty daunting, but there are a few tips you can use to get better. We’ve compiled a few for you below

Start simple: figure the biome out

A good start is first figuring out what biome you are currently in. Biomes will differ in features, with some containing grass, rocks, trees, lakes, and so on. You should find out if you’re in a forest or the mountains or desert first.

Keep an eye out for Fortnite landmarks

Sometimes, you can easily spot your location by looking out for iconic Fortnite landmarks. This also works with points of interest in Fortnite, so make sure you memorize as many as you can

Be familiar with Fortnite maps and locations exclusive to each season

The game will tell you what season you’re currently playing on the top right of the screen. This will help you narrow down potential locations and make the game much easier.
