Fortnite’s highly anticipated fifth season is now live. The game’s servers have just gone down so that Epic Games can begin to add a ton of new content to the game.
Whenever the servers come up, players will be thrown into a map that has seen some significant changes. The theme of season five is “Worlds Collide,” and that theme will be readily apparent in-game as certain locations on the map have received big-time updates.
Season five’s theme was made possible by the rocket launch near the end of season four, which created a rift in the world. That rift left a crack in the sky but also began to teleport items in and out of the world, hinting at what was to come.
In the last few hours of season four, the crack in the sky got even larger. Without warning, the servers went down, and Epic Games began to go to work on updating the game in a big way. The new update includes the new All Terrain Kart, which can carry an entire team, along with another map overhaul. The new map includes a new desert biome, plus two new named locations called Paradise Palms and Lazy Links.
With the new season also comes a brand new Battle Pass, which features a bunch of new skins, gliders, pickaxes, sprays, emotes, and more to unlock. The season five Battle Pass can be purchased for 950 V-Bucks, and it features 100 tiers of unlocks to level up.
Each week, there will be new challenges to help earn Battle Stars and XP to level up the Battle Pass and your season level. Get out there and earn some Victory Royales, once the servers go back up.
