All endings in Five Nights at Freddy’s: Secret of the Mimic

Here is a comprehensive guide to get and understand all the endings in FNAF: Secret of the Mimic.

In Five Nights at Freddy’s: Secret of the Mimic, you play as Arnold, who gets a call from dispatch after completing a 36-hour shift with Fazbear Entertainment. The company wants you to secure the original Mimic schematic, but the threat of the animatronic makes it a horrifying journey with multiple jump scares and scary bosses.

While you run from the bosses or take a sneaky approach to distract the Mimic and escape the Costume Manor, you have multiple ways to end the story. Some of them end up bad for you, but others reveal exciting lore clues for the upcoming FNAF games.

Spoilers ahead!

It goes without saying, but this piece has major spoilers for the game’s ending, so we’d encourage you to finish the game first and read this piece after that to understand the story.

How many endings are there in Five Nights at Freddy’s: Secret of the Mimic?

There are three endings that you can get in Five Nights at Freddy’s: Secret of the Mimic and each of them requires you to make different decisions, resulting in different endings to your playthrough.

Bad Ending

Let’s start with the bad ending, which is the one I got first, and honestly, it sucks. After finishing the last level of the game, you end up in the security again, where the dispatch congratulates you for making the farthest in recovering Edwin Murray’s original Mimic blueprints. It instructs you to drop your Data Diver in the inventory system and finish your task. The inventory system is the same place where you used to store your collectables throughout the game, obtained from gift boxes.

After you submit your Data Diver with the Executive Access in the inventory tube, dispatch will open the garage and let you drive home for a well-deserved rest. However, dispatch calls you again while driving your van and lets you know that it has been trying to reach you all night. This is where it becomes clear that the original dispatch was actually Mimic, who was imitating their voice to lure you to the factory. Despite reasoning with dispatch that he didn’t lose company property, Arnold gets fired from the company, which informs him that he’ll be hearing from their lawyers. Talk about a bad day.

The day gets even worse when Mimic suddenly appears to be hiding in the back of the van and Arnold spots his glowing eyes in the rear-view mirror. The animatronic attacks him and the game ends as you are stuck inside a costume like Mimic’s other victims in the factory as the credits roll in front of you.

Normal Ending

This can be the canon ending for the game, but it also ends badly for our Arnold. Instead of blindly trusting the dispatch’s evil plans, you use the H.E.L.P.E.R computer by putting on your Data Diver and selecting the RUN PARACHUTE.EXE option with your executive permission. Once you do that, you can jump into the secret vent on your left side and dispatch mocks you for disobeying the company. Now, start the GOODBYE SHOW on the computer and the show’s floor should take you deep down the building, where you’ll spot Freddy and other animatronics.

You need to start the show again, but Mimic will become one of the prototypes and attack you as you overload the power. After running from him, you will hear a command from F10 N4, who is none other than Edwin’s dead wife inside a machine. She’ll tell you to continue to the main house and activate the communications sub terminal.

Now, you have to find another computer and select the CRADLE.EXE in the surveillance room and run toward the elevator to lose Mimic from chasing you. After reaching the ground floor, you run for your dear life to ultimately face Mimic on the bridge over lava. Thankfully, a bridge falls over him to make a new path for you to run. Eventually, Mr. Helpful helps you get away from Mimic and the factory starts burning down as you find your way out. As the animatronics start to corner Arnold, you jump into your van and the normal ending ensues.

After driving a while, Mimic appears to be on top of the van and crashes into our vehicle. While the animatronic doesn’t kill us, it takes away our Data Driver with all the permissions to basically do whatever it wants right now. It can duplicate itself to get better at imitating voices and appearances, or have something even more dangerous for the future FNAF titles.

Secret Ending

To get the Secret Ending, you need to get one of the Five Nights at Freddy’s: Secret of the Mimic endings and restart your play in New Game+. This time, you don’t need to focus much on beating the game; instead, look for presents hidden across the levels and collect the collectables. There are 25 of these and you can register them by dropping them at the inventory duct. After you’ve collected all of them, including the white tiger fluffy toy, in the security area, you can run the MOON.EXE game and choose the collectables to progress through the story to ultimately walk into the closet to find a strange upgrade machine.

Complete the minigame by turning all the zeroes to one and the Moon program should start, giving you the Glitched Permission, which is important to complete the next mini game. Now, avoid the Mimic and collect the tapes from different rooms to place them in the central room and unlock a secret vent. Now, go back to the inventory system and use your Data Diver to take the white tiger fluffy because you need it in the next stage.

Take the secret vent until you reach David’s bedroom, where you can place the toy on the pedestal to start the final mini-game. You’re Fiona reading David his bedtime tale. Now, before you place the toy, make sure to memorize the color order from the wall to your right side. Once you put down the tiger, Mimic should appear from the closet, but you can press the buttons on the pedestal in the correct order within the time to tell Mimic the bedtime story, which allows you to use the Glitched Data Diver to change his programming and make him into David. After that, David picks up the toy and sleeps in the bedroom as Fiona tells him that his parents love him.

This ending really breaks my heart. Mimic’s imitatation of David shows that if things were different and Edwin didn’t beat his most creative innovation, he would have never turned homicidal. Instead, he would have taken care of the little child as his dad intended to after his mother’s sudden demise.
