All FNAF: Into the Pit secrets

FNAF isn’t FNAF without the multitude of secrets that comes with it, and Into the Pit is no different. From Phone Guy and Purple Guy cameos to the possible twist in Foxy’s identity, there’s so much to sink your teeth into as we revisit 1985.

There are many references in Five Nights at Freddy’s: Into the Pit. While the events fluctuate between the modern day and sometime in the 80s, Into the Pit has four clear references to other FNAF stories.

So, if you’re interested in finding out everything Into the Pit has to offer, then here are all secrets you can find in FNAF: Into the Pit.

FNAF Into the Pit: All secrets and where to find them

FNAF: Into the Pit includes multiple mini-games, but not all of these contain secrets. While you need to complete mini-games to accumulate Vouchers for the Prize Voucher (three-star ending item), there is one particular mini-game that stands out in the Arcade—Collect the Hats.

Complete the Collect the Hats game as normal by collecting all five hats on the arcade screen. A distorted celebratory sound will play upon collecting the fifth and “final” hat. This sound comes from the left of the screen, and is best heard with headphones on.

You need to walk off the left side of the screen via the second white, stationary platform (where a balloon bundle continuously hovers behind the platform). This reveals the Purple Guy secret, where he dangles a sixth hat on a rope, and drops it when the two second timer ends. Finding this gives you a new song to listen to while you play—Hat Time.

Purple Guy is yet another reference to William Afton, and a link to the missing children in 1985, hinting that the year Into the Pit takes place is ’85 (every time Oswald went into the past).

Outside of this, the three secret mini-games needed for the three-star ending are as follows:

• Party Clean Up: Keep interacting with the candy dispenser until the mini-game activates.
• Grant her Wish!: Call mom on night five.
• Find the Balloons: Interact with the Prizes machine with the Prize Voucher.

These mini-games link directly to the Fazbear Frights graphic novels. Respectively, each mini-game links to victims outside of the Into the Pit storyline—Millie, Sarah, and Kimberley. The mini-games directly follow on from the first story of Fazbear Frights: Into the Pit, and aren’t events existing within Into the Pit‘s narrative. Instead, each mini-game retells the graphic novel tales of Count the Ways, To Be Beautiful, and Fetch, but you may not be able to link these together if you only follow FNAF mainline (I had no idea what I had witnessed until I start researching).

Night five has its own secrets to behold

While FNAF is best known for its complex lore in the underbelly of Fazbear’s Pizzeria, everyone knows that the standard FNAF gameplay increases in difficulty as you progress through each night. The real revelations in FNAF games tend to unfold in night five, with Easter eggs and secrets to find in previous nights.

A simple but effective method to uncover Into the Pit‘s secrets is through dialing specific numbers on Oswald’s cell phone. While calling Mom in night five activates one of the three secret mini-games, the best secret lies in dialing the number 7774648.

Dialing this will reveal the sound of William Afton getting impaled by the springlock failure in Spring Bonnie. While its only audio, this, alongside playing through previous FNAF entries, confirms the killer in Into the Pit is William Afton (before becoming Springtrap in FNAF 3).

This secret links the story of Five Nights at Freddy’s 3 to Into the Pit; where Afton hid inside Spring Bonnie’s suit after he murdered five children (presumably the same children in Into the Pit), only to have it malfunction as the springlock failed to correctly activate.

FNAF: Into the Pit secret ending explained

Officially, Into the Pit has three endings, and while the three-star ending can be tough to get if you don’t know where to start, there are two secret endings that you may accidentally stumble across. There are two distinct actions Oswald can take to get these endings:

1. Head out the front door of Fazbear’s Pizzeria or
2. Fail the quick-time event against Spring Bonnie

Both actions result in an ending, though they’re without the iconic FNAF star that is awarded to those who achieve an ending. Oswald can leave his current life behind, opting for life in the past and choosing to leave his father and friends to their doom. While this is a somewhat macabre ending, it isn’t one that holds much weight to Into the Pit‘s canon as it’s not an official ending.

The other however, offers a tad more insight into the motives of the animatronics. As Oswald fails to protect himself and his father from Spring Bonnie, he is moved to the stage, but is no longer himself. While we’re given clear a visual that Oswald’s body and mind are intact, his voice is now distorted. The animatronics that surround him welcome him (presumably to his stage) as this game over ending concludes with Oswald “activating” in front of Pirate Cove. But, does this mean Oswald became Foxy?

Into the Pit does have its happy moment, but it’s only through finding all of dad’s items. This changes the credits to show dad’s memories, achieved in either the two- or three-star ending.
