Largo has officially arrived in Dota 2 with the massive patch 7.40 update. The 127th hero of the game, a Strength-type, brings a whimsical aesthetic combined with a highly versatile support toolkit.
Resembling a quirky frog wielding a two-stringed instrument, Largo blends charm with battlefield utility. He is a flexible enabler, excelling at boosting allies through precise spellcasting.
Here’s a detailed guide to all of Largo’s abilities, facets, and talents in Dota 2.

Innate Ability – Encore
- Buffs that Largo applies to himself or his team have extended duration.
Encore enhances the sustainability and efficiency of Largo’s support toolkit. Buffs like Croak of Genius or Amphibian Rhapsody effects last longer, allowing your allies to maximize damage output, mana efficiency, and survivability during extended fights or objective pushes.
Skill 1 – Catchy Lick

- Largo licks the targeted unit with his tongue, pulling it back a short distance, applying a basic dispel, and dealing damage if it’s an enemy. Dispelling (Basic Dispel) an effect from a target grants Largo temporary health regeneration.
Catchy Lick is a versatile utility tool for disrupting enemies and saving allies. With this skill, you can interrupt channeled abilities, remove debuffs, and provide a self-sustaining mechanism through temporary regen. In teamfights, you can reposition threats or initiate ganks safely while keeping yourself in the fight longer.
Skill 2 – Frogstomp

- Largo tosses froglings to an area. They stomp the ground every 1 second, dealing damage and ministuns, and enemies in the area have reduced movement speed.
Frogstomp provides you with zone and crowd control, crucial for peeling off your enemies from key allies or controlling choke points. The slow allows your allies to follow up with their disables or chase fleeing opponents, while the ministuns interrupt enemy spellcasting, giving your team a tactical advantage during engagements.
Skill 3 – Croak of Genius

- Largo strums a tune to a friendly hero. The hero’s items and abilities have reduced mana cost and a percentage of their damage reverberates over the following 5 seconds. When an affected hero spends mana, the remaining buff duration is reduced by 0.5s.
Croak of Genius is critical for enabling spell-dependent cores, like Leshrac, Dragon Knight, Mars, and Gyrocopter. Reducing mana costs allows your teammates to sustain continuous casting, while the reverberating damage adds a passive layer of output. Proper timing can turn small skirmishes into decisive fights and synergizes with other AoE damage or sustain abilities in teamfights.
Ultimate – Amphibian Rhapsody

- Largo gets ready to groove. He is disarmed and his ability bar switches to three song abilities, each with different effects. Songs are only effective if strummed on the beat.
- Bullbelly Blitz: Increases nearby allied heroes’ spell amplification and adds magic damage to their attacks.
- Hotfeet Hustle: Increases nearby allies’ movement speed and grants brief slow resistance.
- Island Elixir: Heals nearby friendly heroes.
- Every time he strums successfully, he gains a stack of Groovin’. Each stack gives him bonus armor and reduces the mana cost of every song, but he loses a stack if he misses a beat. Stacks linger for a short duration when his song ends.
Amphibian Rhapsody is a huge teamfight ultimate, offering offensive, defensive, and mobility buffs simultaneously. Properly timing the beats maximizes Groovin’ stacks, boosting your armor and efficiency for sustained engagements.
Each song serves a strategic role: Bullbelly Blitz amplifies damage for your cores, Hotfeet Hustle enhances your positioning and kiting potential, and Island Elixir sustains your team in prolonged fights. Mastery of the beat mechanic is crucial for converting the ultimate into a fight-winning tool.

Aghanim’s Scepter ability upgrade for Amphibian Rhapsody

- He can play two songs per beat by strumming both at the same time. On beats when he strums two songs, Largo deals 50 plus 10 magic damage per Groovin’ stack to nearby enemies.
This significantly increases his offensive contribution while maintaining support utility.

- Whenever Largo applies a Unit Target buff to a friendly hero, he also gets the buff. If he targets himself, the buff is also applied to the nearest allied hero within the cast range of the targeted ability.
This improves teamwide synergy, allowing more consistent support and amplification during fights.
Largo facets
At launch, he only has one facet that doesn’t have an effect:
Musical Pilgrimmage
- This facet doesn’t do anything. Largo just arrived from the island of Velu’Mar…
Largo has just arrived from the island of Velu’Mar, but Valve may add facets in future updates to further diversify his playstyle.
