One of North America’s most successful Dota 2 teams has picked up a new roster
Despite placing second at the International 6, the former roster of Digital Chaos—which featured Rasmus “MiSeRy” Filipsen, Aliwi “w33” Omar, and David “MoonMeander” Tan— left the organization earlier today. The roster will instead be competing independently under the temporary banner Thunderbirds.
Digital Chaos, which saw founder Shannon Scotten, and general manager Nikki Elise depart on April 6, has since announced that it will be fielding the roster Team Onyx. The squad made a miracle run through the North American qualifiers of the upcoming $3 million Kiev Major, defeating favorites such as NP and compLexity Gaming on its way to the Valve Major.
The circumstances surrounding Scotten’s departure are still unknown. The same is true for Digital Chaos’s former roster, especially considering the team has continued to exceed after their excellent performance at the International 6.
Prior to departing Digital Chaos, the players that now make up the Thunderbirds roster were invited to attend the Kiev Major—meaning the squad will still be attending the $3 million event as planned, and also making them the first independent roster to compete at a Valve Major.
Digital Chaos will now be entering the Kiev Major with even loftier expectations, as this will be the first time its new roster has ever played against internationally top-rated opponents in an international tournament setting.
