How to get One Thousand Voices in Destiny 2

One Thousand Voices has received its biggest buff in Destiny 2 thanks to a bug—if you can get it, that is.

This fusion rifle can be a good (albeit dangerous) option on its own. It creates a powerful beam that explodes shortly after impact, and the blast might just kill you if you’re too close to the center. And all you have to do to get is to progress through a raid, kill a mystical wish-dragon, and then cleanse its heart. A regular Tuesday, really.

How to unlock the One Thousand Voices Exotic fusion rifle in Destiny 2

One Thousand Voices has a chance of dropping from the final chests at the Last Wish raid in Destiny 2. You need to own the Forsaken Pack to do Last Wish, and its drop is tied to RNG.

Last Wish’s unique key system means you likely can get more than a copy of 1K in a run, if you’re lucky. Since you get Keys from beating Riven of a Thousand Voices, you can finish the final part of the raid—the Queenswalk—and open more than one chest at the end, potentially letting you get more than one 1K.

While One Thousand Voices is mostly a relic or a niche pick, it was the talk of the town for a brief moment in time, when players could take advantage of a bug to get infinite ammo for it.

How to get infinite ammo with One Thousand Voices in Destiny 2

With Bungie’s limited-time sword event between Sept. 3 and 10, all swords in your Heavy slot were regenerating ammo over time thanks to the Blessing of Blades buff. For some reason, however, this buff includes One Thousand Voices, and players are absolutely taking advantage of it.

This limited-time buff only applies to specific activities (including Vanguard, Nightfalls, and seasonal activities), so 1K’s short-lived reign has an expiration date. Still, this can come in handy if you’re looking for a reason to dust it off for a bit, or if you want some help tracking down all the secret chests in Encore.

Is One Thousand Voices good in Destiny 2?

Its buff in Update 7.0.0.1 gave One Thousand Voices some much-needed juice, allowing it to trigger Ignitions for more damage. It’s still nowhere close to how it was in the good ol’ days of Particle Deconstruction in Season of the Lost, where 1K (and other fusions/linear fusions) were kings of the meta, but it’s solidified itself as a decent damage option. Naturally, it’s a lot better with infinite ammo.

This doesn’t mean 1K is the god-king of DPS, however, and multiple options—Exotic and Legendaries alike—can outclass it, which may make it hard to justify using it as your one Exotic weapon. Still, One Thousand Voices is a unique gun, a reminder from when you beat Riven of A Thousand Voices and escaped to tell the tale. Or, if you lived through a certain bug, it’s a reminder of a fun limited-time experience.
