The world’s top teams have converged in Asia for the CS2 IEM Chengdu 2025, taking place in China from Nov. 3 to 9.
Fans are fired up after ESL confirmed that this year’s edition features live audiences during the group stage, marking a huge change from the usual format that limits crowd attendance to the playoffs.
Team Spirit, champions at Cologne last August, are aiming to secure back-to-back IEM titles. But their path won’t be easy, with elite CS2 contenders like Team Vitality, FURIA, The MongolZ, and Team Falcons all in the mix. FaZe Clan, the last team to lift the trophy in Chengdu, also returns with a revamped roster featuring North American star Russel “Twistzz” Van Dulken.

IEM Chengdu 2025 follows the classic group stage and playoffs format.
The tournament begins with 16 teams split into two GSL-style groups (double-elimination), where every match is played in a best-of-three format. Group winners advance straight to the semifinals, while the second- and third-placed teams move on to the quarterfinals as high and low seeds, respectively.
The playoffs feature best-of-three matchups, culminating in a best-of-five grand final.
