A controversial name is reportedly looking to make a return to competitive Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.
Following the departure of brothers Henrique “Hen1” Teles and Lucas “Lucas1” Teles from the Brazilian Não Tem Como roster yesterday, the team has now apparently added Vito “kNg” Giuseppe, according to HLTV and ESPN Brasil.
This will serve as kNg’s return to international competition following his dismissal from 100 Thieves on Jan. 25. After being caught using a homophobic remark on social media, the North American-based organization chose to cut all ties with the 23-year-old AWPer. On Jan. 31, 100 Thieves opted out of fielding the remaining four players on the team thanks to substantial visa issues with several players, which made them unable to enter the U.S.
In the wake of their removal from 100 Thieves, the four remaining players decided not to recruit kNg to NTC, and instead brought on former SK Gaming rifler João “felps” Vasconcellosas on Feb. 20. Following the departure of Hen1 and Lucas1 yesterday, the team seems to view kNg as the most suitable replacement available.
KNg is believed to be joining the three NTC players at their bootcamp in Cologne, Germany next week, according to HLTV. It is currently unclear as to who the fifth player on the roster will be.
NTC is also reportedly being eyed by SK Gaming, as the organization’s current roster will be leaving the team once their contracts are up. This would mean that kNg may once again be representing a top team by July.
Despite having a relatively short career in CS:GO, kNg was able to reach the grand finals of the PGL Kraków Major on Jul. 24. Competing for Immortals at the time, the AWPer was cut from the roster following a series of controversies. This included issuing threats to opponents, as well as defying an internal suspension he’d been issued by Immortals.
Hopefully kNg’s return to competing with his former teammates will be more successful than last time.
