Senna to get stats rework because LoL players keep losing by building lethality

Please, just stop buying all those Edge of Nights.

The League of Legends developers are testing (and will very likely ship) a comprehensive stats rework for Senna in League Patch 14.16 to help the support stop losing so much—a slide mainly sparked by players who keep buying lethality items for the Redeemer.

After these planned Riot changes, which landed on the League PBE this week, Senna should play a whole lot more like an Enchanter again. Right now she is mostly played with a Bloodsong and Edge of Night core.

The lethality build on Senna has been solid in the past, but has now slumped to a lowly 48.34 percent win rate in Season 14, according to League stats site U.GG.

To answer Senna’s struggles in the bot lane, Riot is making changes to her base stats as well as her passive and Q, W, and ultimate abilities. These range from lower attack speed growth through her stats to more ability power and attack damage scaling on her heals, slows, and shielding. For her W her root has been made more powerful to encourage casting. Only her E has been left as is, for now.

Here’s the full Senna changes being tested:

  • Attack speed growth reduced from four to two percent.
  • Passive critical chance every 20 souls reduced from 10 to eight percent.
  • Q healing:
    • Base increased from 40-80 to 40-120
    • Ability power scaling increased from 40 to 80 percent.
    • Base attack damage scaling increased from 30 to 40 percent.
    • Lethality scaling removed.
  • Q slow:
    • Base unchanged.
    • Ability power scaling increased from six to 10 percent.
    • Base attack damage scaling increased from 10 to 15 percent.
  • W root duration increased from 1-2s to 1.25-2.25 seconds.
  • E will see no changes this update.
  • R shield:
    • Base increased from 100-200 to 120-200.
    • Ability power scaling increased from 40 to 70 percent.
    • Soul scaling unchanged (150 percent).

Senna never actually dropped into the very worst win rates in the season, but all these projected League changes should be the change in fortune the Redeemer needs—as long as players actually start building her differently.

Only time will really tell on that front; League Patch 14.16 will hit live servers on Wednesday, Aug. 14 after testing on the PBE staging realm for the next two weeks.
