Yes, Palworld is now available on PS5. This exciting announcement was revealed during the PlayStation State of Play showcase on Sept. 24. So, if you’ve been waiting to get your hands on this fun survival game, you can now purchase it from the PlayStation store for your PS5 for $29.99

This announcement took players by surprise because Nintendo and The Pokémon Company officially filed a lawsuit against Pocketpair, the developers of Palword, on Sept. 18. So, it’s unclear how this lawsuit will affect Palworld and its life and longevity on PS5.

However, this deal to bring Palworld to PS5 was in the works long before this lawsuit was filed. One of PlayStation’s leading figures—Shuhei Yoshida—congratulated the Palworld team on Jan. 20 with a message on X (formerly Twitter). A user replied to Yoshida, asking, “Mr. Yoshida, please support SIE so that the PS5 version can be released as soon as possible!” Yoshida had an interesting response: “Yes.”

Even during early access, Pocketpair said in an official Palworld Q&A on Discord that it would “consider” a PlayStation port of Palworld, with PlayStation keen to feature the title on PS consoles. This eagerness is still evident given that the title still launched on PS5, even with the ongoing lawsuit. And it’s easy to see why.

Since launch, Palworld has achieved near-unimaginable success and defied all expectations. Palworld sold one million copies in just its first eight hours, four million copies in three days, and then had a combined eight million copies sold after six days. We’re also constantly monitoring to see how many copies it has sold. Its success truly would have been hard to pass up. But whether Palworld will remain on this console with the lawsuit in progress is unknown. So, we’ll just have to wait and see what happens to Palworld and Pocketpair.

Although Palworld is now available on PS5, neither Sony nor Pocketpair have yet to announce whether this title will launch on the older-generation console. Seeing as the PS5 Pro is set to launch in November, Sony will likely start phasing out PS4 game launches. For now, it’s unclear whether Palworld will ever launch on PS4.

We will continue to update this guide if Pocketpair announces further details about a possible PlayStation 4 release.
