A new Apex Legends console solo kill record has been set

The overall record still stands, however.

Respawn Entertainment’s Apex Legends had a colossal first month. The free-to-play battle royale set in the Titanfall universe surpassed 50 million downloads, held multiple high stakes tournaments, and broke Twitch viewership records.

Players are eagerly hunting for kill world records as they wait for the first season to begin. A new record has been set each week, and it doesn’t look like it’s going to stop any time soon. It’s no easy task to win a game of Apex, let alone rack up 30 plus kills. PS4 player “Calamiti” has proved that it’s possible, however.

Calamiti posted a video on YouTube highlighting his claim to fame. He dealt 6060 damage in a period of 21 minutes, amassing 34 kills. He beat “Dlon’s” console record by just one kill, but narrowly missed out on the overall record.

Lucas “Mendokusaii” Håkansson currently holds the overall solo kill record with 36 kills on the PC platform. The former pro player, who previously played for Overwatch league team Houston Outlaws, has the tools to thrive in Respawn’s battle royale. His record still stands, but Calamiti has come close to toppling it.

The PS4 player adopted a similar method to the previous record holders. He queued up solo, before abandoning his teammates and actively seek out targets. In Calamiti’s case, one of his teammates appears to have disconnected before the match even begun, and the other was quickly taken out before he could inflict any damage.

This meant Calamiti could easily take the lone ranger approach. He played Wraith, a legend particularly fitting the solo playstyle. Wraith’s aggressive kit, and her one vs. three potential came into play. It allowed the skilled player to quickly take out a target, before dodging, repositioning, and using the map’s terrain to his advantage.
