100 Thieves officially announced their 2022 League of Legends coaching staff on Wednesday, keeping both Bok “Reapered” Han-gyu and AleÅ¡ “Freeze” KněžÃnek as head and assistant coach respectively, and adding former Cloud9 head coach Alfonso “Mithy” Aguirre RodrÃguez. The move was reported previously by Dot Esports; Cloud9 announced Mithy’s release Tuesday.

100 Thieves 2022 coaching staff
Both coaching staffs made the 2021 League of Legends World Championships, with Mithy helping Cloud9 advance to the knockout stage. Mithy will join a 100 Thieves team coming off of a League Championship Series title run and disappointing Worlds 2021 performance. The team’s roster will reportedly remain mostly the same, just with Worlds 2021 sub and 100 Thieves Academy player Milan “Tenacity” Oleksij joining the main squad as a sixth man. Mithy was a player in the LCS and the League of Legends European Championship as recently as 2019. The Spanish support player switched into a coaching role in the 2020 season for Fnatic. With that team he went to Worlds 2020 and lost to Top Esports in the knockout stage. From there he took his talents to North America once again, this time as a coach. He joined as a strategic coach before his promotion to head coach in the summer split. Mithy broke into the top European league, the European League of Legends Championship Series at the time, with Lemondogs in 2013 through the old promotion system. In his first split, his team placed first in the regular season and qualified for the 2013 World Championships. Mithy faced a $500 fine and temporary ban from the League Championship Series and the Challenger Series in 2014 due to use of racial slurs and other toxic behavior in solo queue. The ban was lifted Dec. 19, 2014. He went back down to the second tier league, then the Challenger league in Europe by signing with Ninjas in Pyjamas in hopes of earning another promotion into the EU LCS. He did not manage that and moved to Origen who did earn a promotion into the league as Mithy went on to earn a top four finish at Worlds 2015 just a year later. 100 Thieves will debut their new coach at the LCS 2022 Lock In tournament starting on Jan. 14.
