Overwatch’s tank-like support Brigitte is now live, but she brought with her a nerf to Sombra.
The Mexican hacker got an adjustment to her Hack ability, as outlined by Overwatch designer Geoff Goodman last week. The first change is a Hack cooldown for when the ability is interrupted. It will force players to be more choosy with their targets, rather than just trying to Hack anyone. The new Hack cooldown is two seconds after it’s interrupted.

The second adjustment will address how Sombra’s enemies can respond to being hacked by the hero. A fraction of a second before Hack completes, there’s a time frame where line-of-sight and other effects can’t cancel Hack.
“We’re also removing the 0.1 second window of time during a hack where it couldn’t be canceled via line of sight or with other abilities including Tracer’s Recall and Zarya’s Particle Barrier, which was originally put in place so the hack wouldn’t be interrupted by small objects such as light posts,” Blizzard said in the patch notes. “We’ve implemented a separate fix for that issue, so she should still be unaffected by those small objects.”
Alongside Brigitte’s release and Sombra’s nerf, Blizzard also added allied ultimate charge tickers to Overwatch’s team information screen. Blizzard also changed the name of Junkrat’s Scarecrow spray to Hayseed, while Mercy’s Toast victory pose got an adjustment.
Though Brigitte is playable on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox in Overwatch’s Quick Play and Arcade, she’ll be disabled in Competitive Play until the end of season nine.
