GRID boosts esports betting push with Bayes Esports takeover

The Germany-based company is eyeing to take esports betting to new heights.

Data and technology firm GRID has acquired the intellectual property assets of Bayes Esports following the company’s liquidation.

The move is aimed at strengthening the Berlin-based firm’s regulated betting solution, GRID Bet, while further expanding its influence in the fast-growing esports industry.

“The acquisition of Bayes assets further accelerates GRID’s capabilities to create value for rights holders in esports and shape the next phase of esports betting in particular,” Moritz Maurer, Founder and CEO of GRID, said.

The deal transfers nearly a decade of Bayes Esports’ developments, including live data trading systems, prediction models, and fan engagement tools, into the GRID Data Platform.

This integration is set to accelerate product development and improve GRID’s ability to deliver innovative services to its partner betting operators.

Founded in 2019, Bayes Esports built a reputation as a key B2B data provider, collaborating with various tournament organizers and gambling platforms before entering insolvency.

Bayes’ technology will now bolster GRID’s offerings, from GRID Bet’s real-time betting solutions to GRID Insights, an AI-powered analytics tool launched earlier this year for esports broadcasts.

The takeover comes as GRID continues to build on its exclusive partnerships with top rights holders and game developers such as Riot Games, ESL FACEIT Group, BLAST, Ubisoft, and Krafton.

Through these agreements, GRID is able to deliver official live match data for major esports titles—including League of Legends, Dota 2, CS2, and VALORANT—a critical component in powering accurate odds and regulated betting.

The acquisition also comes amid a surge in global esports betting. Based on a report by Business Research Insights, the market is expected to expand from $16.21 billion in 2025 to $54.03 billion by 2034, highlighting the opportunity GRID aims to seize through its takeover of Bayes Esports.
