Epic Games has announced a new Fortnite: Battle Royale event with free challenges and exclusive rewards for the v8.30 update. It’s called Buccaneer’s Bounty, and players will be able to check the complete list of challenges once servers are back after the update is deployed.
This event will start today and go on until April 15. Epic wrote that players will test their skills in fresh Limited Time Modes every day to try to complete the challenges to get their rewards. It’s unclear yet if all challenges will be available at once or if players will unlock them progressively as days go by.

Players completing the Buccaneer’s Bounty challenges will notice that the spawn rate of Treasure Maps has been increased, and this will last throughout the entire event. The item is probably related either to the challenges or to the whole story behind the event.
Bucaneer’s Bounty seems to be Fortnite’s season eight special event. Epic always creates some kind of event with free challenges and rewards for all players mid-season, and this time it seems to have given up on bringing zombies to standard game modes like it did in season seven.
It’s still unclear if Buccaneer’s Bounty is related to the mysteries of the digging sites and the helicopter, though.
