Fortnite: Battle Royale players may soon have a short time window to undo accidental purchases in the game’s Item Shop, an engineer at Epic Games revealed. This would allow players to return cosmetic items without spending one of their Refund Tokens from the current system.
Players would have up to five minutes after their cosmetic item purchase in the Item Shop to receive a full refund for the returned item. Players must also make sure they haven’t started a match in this time window, since doing so will disable the undo button for that purchase.
The news was received with disapproval by the community. The Epic engineer who revealed the information was replying to a Reddit post that said Japan’s version of Fortnite on the PlayStation 4 has a “confirm purchase” button in the Item Shop. The post’s author also asked why other countries are still waiting for this feature, which has been highly requested for some time.

The engineer said Japan’s case is a special one “due to X / O button meaning being swapped by default and there also being options to reverse the meanings of the buttons.” His comment received dozens of negative votes, and several other players said this same system would be much more effective than the new intended “undo purchase” button.
Regardless of players’ opinions, Epic seems ready to introduce the undo button instead of a “confirm purchase” button. Dot Esports reached out to Epic to ask if there’s an estimated release date for this feature, and the developer said “we don’t have any time frame or anything to add beyond what Dan mentions there.”
