How to get Jafar out of the lamp in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Are you sure you don't want to just leave him in there?

After you finally stop Jafar’s scheming in Disney Dreamlight Valley, you can recruit him as a permanent valley villager. To do so, you have to get Jafar out of the lamp, which is a fairly tricky task since you’re given no guidance on how to go about it.

You can work on getting Jafar out of the lamp immediately after you trap him in there, but only once you activate the hidden quest that allows you to do so. It’s a fairly straightforward process once you know what needs to be done, so here’s how to get Jafar out of the lamp in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

To free Jafar from the lamp, you have to unlock and fully complete the secret The Lesser Evil quest. This quest isn’t automatically added to your list to complete and is instead only unlocked once you find one of the 2D objects hidden around Eternity Isle.

You can unlock this quest by finding any of the three 2D items:

  • The Geometrically Impaired Tree in The Grasslands region of the Wild Tangle biome.
  • The Geometrically Impaired Cactus is in The Plains region of the Glittering Dunes biome.
  • The Geometrically Impaired Statue in The Docks region of the Ancient’s Landing biome.

As soon as you pick up one of these items, you can then talk with Oswald about what’s going on. After this, you have to find the other two 2D items and show them to Merlin to discuss the situation.

Merlin won’t know what to do, so he’ll instruct you to return to Jafar’s Laboratory to find notes that may help. Even after you find them, Merlin still won’t know how to stop the 2D problem from spreading, which is why he then instructs you to work on freeing Jafar from the lamp.

With these steps out of the way, you can finally focus on setting Jafar free. Venture into the Cave of Wonders with the lamp in your inventory and make your way to the very end of this area. This is the massive staircase leading up to the Statue of Time.

Approach the Statue of Time and interact with it to place the lamp Jafar is trapped in. Then, equip your Royal Hourglass and use its magic on the lamp to free Jafar from it. As soon as you do this to finish The Lesser Evil quest, you unlock Jafar.
